Ever since she won a National Award for Fashion, Kangna Ranaut seems to have decided she won’t be selling herself short any longer.She recently demanded – and got – Rs 5 crore for a film which is to be directed by Tanvir Khan, who last directed Deadline. Produced by Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions, the film is a love story and also stars former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag. This will be his Bollywood debut. The remainder of the cast is still being finalised.

A source said, “Kangna has come a long way from the days of her debut film Gangster. Directors realise her potential and have no qualms in giving her the fee she deserves.”Pooja Kashyap (COO, Maverick Productions) confirmed that Kangna has indeed been paid Rs 5 crore. “Kangna is a great actress. She adds a lot of value to a film. What we have paid her is fully justified,” said Pooja.

Kangna, on her part, said, “I can’t discuss my fee.”This is not the first time a Bollywood heroine has been paid Rs 5 crore or more. Recently, Kareena Kapoor was paid Rs 7 crore for Golmaal 3 (which will go on floors shortly) while before that, Priyanka Chopra was paid Rs 6 crore for Pyaar Impossible.
